MAURITIUS MARATHI CULTURAL CENTRE TRUST

NOTICE OF VACANCY

The Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust (MMCCT), a statutory body operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates, who wish to be considered for appointment as Driver/Office Attendant for a temporary period of one year which may be followed by substantive appointment.

Qualifications

By selection from among candidates who:

(i)  possess the certificate of Primary Education including Marathi language;

(ii)  possess a valid driving licence (manual gear) to drive cars or vans or 15-seater minibuses;

(iii) have a basic knowledge of mechanics and simple vehicle maintenance; and

(iv) have good eyesight

Candidates should produce written evidence of knowledge claimed.

Note 1:

In the absence of candidates possessing the qualification at (i) above consideration will be given to candidates who show proof of being literate.

Note 2:

Selected candidates will be required to undergo a medical test to assess their eyesight and physical fitness.

Age Limit

Applicants should not be over 40 years of age at the closing date unless already employed in a Parastatal Body or in the Civil Service.

Duties

1.  To drive vehicles of the Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust for the conveyance of staff, officials, and other authorized persons, materials and equipment in connection with the activities of the organisation.

2.  To carry out simple checks/maintenance tasks including:

          a)  checking of radiator or overflow tank for water level and filling up with water, if necessary;

          b) checking of engine oil-level and topping up, if necessary, and reporting any unusual oil consumption;

          c) checking wheel nuts for wheel tightness and checking of all wheels including spare wheel for the tyre pressure and uneven/abnormal wear.

          d) checking of fluid levels of brake master cylinder and clutch master cylinder and topping up, if necessary;

          e) monitoring mileage run/period vehicle is used, and inform the officer-in-charge of transport when servicing is due;

          f) washing and cleaning the vehicles’ body and interior;

          g) ensuring that the interior of the vehicle is kept clean at all times and free of dust;

          h) checking of battery electrolyte level and topping up, as and when necessary; and;

          i) checking of all lights, horn, wipers, brake and clutch to ensure that they are in good condition.

3.  To report any defect observed to the officer in charge of transport and take vehicle to workshop for repair / servicing as instructed by the latter.

4.  To attend to minor repairs such as cleaning of spark plug, replacing of fuse or bulb, changing of tyres and making arrangements for mending of punctures in the event of breakdown.

5.  To help, whenever required, the mechanic when the vehicle under his charge breaks down on the road and has to be towed or repaired on the spot.

6.  To keep a log book and record issue of fuel, all movements, tyres and batteries changes.

7.  To perform messengerial duties such as running errands, despatch of correspondence and distribution of files and documents, photocopying of documents, press cuttings, circulars and other papers.

8.  To be in attendance at the reception counter, direct visitors and keep visitors’s book, as and when required.

9.  To clean office premises.

10.  To operate a simple telephone switchboard/ PABX console, if required.

11.  To keep a high standard of maintenance of the Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust.

12.  To assist in the organization of events.

13.  To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from Driver/ Office Attendant in the roles ascribed to him.

Notes

  1. Driver/ Office Attendant will be required to work outside normal working hours, including Sundays and Public Holidays and officially declared cyclone days.
  2. Driver/Office Attendant should abide by the provisions of the Financial Management kit concerning responsibilities of a Driver for his vehicles.

Mode of Application

Qualified candidates should submit their application on the prescribed form which may be downloaded from the website of the MMCCT (mmcct.govmu.org) or collected at the reception counter of the MMCCT, First Floor, Maharashtra Bhawan, Pandit Sahadeo Square, Moka on weekdays from 09.00 hrs to 15.00 hrs.

Duly filled in Application Form should be submitted together with photocopies of all academic and professional certificates, equivalence of certificates (if any), evidence of work experience claimed and copy of the National Identity Card.

Application should reach the Chairperson of the MMCCT at First Floor, Maharashtra Bhawan, Pandit Sahadeo Square, Moka not later than 21st July 2022 at 15h00.
